Why don’t I have any leads coming in to my business?

The excuses are many when it comes to why contractors have little to no lead flow.

“There are a lot of competitors in my area.”

“I don’t have money for marketing.”

“I don’t have time to market.”

“I don’t know what to do.”

On and on the reasons come. First, if you don’t know what to do read this.

This post today is not about what you need to do, but rather why you don’t have enough leads.

There’s plenty on my site about what to do.

The real reason you don’t have leads

You.

I am making a pretty bold statement since I don’t personally know most of you who are reading this, but I can say with confidence you are the reason.

Your thinking is unfocused.

Your actions are unfocused and inconsistent.

Your patience is non-existent.

Your thinking

You must know who you are and who you want to work with. You can’t serve everyone. Take a stand and be different.

If you’re a chiropractor…maybe be the chiropractor for hikers instead of for everyone.

If you’re a painting contractor maybe you position yourself as the company that only does interior painting like this guy.

Your actions

One day you do this…the next day, that. Make up your mind and make a plan and stick to it. Too many great plans are sabotaged because of inconsistent actions.

Your patience

Marketing is not microwaveable. You don’t set the time for 30 seconds and get a freshly cooked lead. It takes time and focus to build a brand. Do the right things all the time and you’ll get more leads.
