Setting Goals: How to Make Sure You Have a Great 2016

We’re are just about a month away from the new year and millions of people are about to start scrambling as they are setting goals for 2016.

Unfortunately, most of these same people will not reach the goals that they set for 2015. Here are a few things to help you make 2016 a kick butt year and one that gives you the results you set out for.

Review 2015

What were the best results you had this year? What went well or better as planned? What sucked? What hijacked you?

Look back on 2015 and be real. For example, my podcast was good but didn’t go as planned. I was not consistent enough for various reasons and need to get better at booking my guests further in advance.

On the flip side, one of my group coaching programs went way better as planned.

Dump the habits that don’t get you the results you want. Duplicate the ones that do.

Get Clarity About What You Want

After you take a look at 2015 you need to choose what you want to happen in 2016. To get clarity on this, imagine it’s 12/31/16 and you’re looking back on the year. Finish this sentence…

“2016 was a kick-butt year because…”

The few things that come to mind should help guide your goal setting for the year.

Don’t waste time on things that don’t mater as much to you.

Identify Your Key Players

One of my main goals for 2016 in to grow the Contractor Sales Academy group coaching program. I can’t do that alone. There are affiliate relationships I need to create and strengthen. There are new team members I need to bring on and train.

Who do you need that will help you get the results you want? Remember, you become the average of the 5 people you associate with the most.

Build Strong Habits

You can be a guru of setting goals.

You can have a great plan to reach those goals. You can have a great team of people in place.

Victory can be stacked in your favor.

But, if you have loser habits you won’t get the results you want.

What is a habit?

“a settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up.”

Your habits will determine the success or failure that you have.

What are the strong habits that you need to develop to reach your goals in 2016?

I want to grow The Strongpreneur Nation Podcast to 10k downloads per month. What habits need to be avoided? Which ones practiced?

You want to grow your business profits by 20% in 2016. What habits do you need to embrace?

As you begin setting goals for the new year take the time to get clear on these things and most importantly implement the stuff that will get you closer. Change the things in your character that are keeping you from getting the results you want.
